Improve Memory Loss
Improve Memory – Both Short and Long Term with Neurofeedback Training
A Better Memory Is Very Useful
One of the biggest problems in remaining relevant at work is your ability to recall information consistently and accurately. Imagine a technology that can help improve your memory on a long-term basis, naturally, without any side effects!
This is what neurofeedback training is designed to do.
The proper functioning of Theta brainwaves is known to be associated with both short-term and working memory. The challenge lies in the fact that as we age, these brainwave functions can become less efficient. A wide range of drugs, primarily designed to help with Alzheimer`s and cognitive decline, are currently used to help with the symptoms.
Recent studies* have shown the effectiveness of neurofeedback training in improving memory function.
One such study, performed at The Department of Psychology, National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, revealed that Neurofeedback Training produced significant improvement in orienting memory scores. (This is the ability to remember details about one`s environment and spatial orientation within a specific timeframe)
In addition, there was a significant improvement in conflicting memory scores in both the older and young neurofeedback training groups. (This means that both younger and older people remembered past events in a similar fashion more consistently)
The study further demonstrated that neurofeedback training improved attention and working memory performance and theta activity in the resting state for normal aging adults. In addition, younger participants also benefited from the present protocol in terms of improving their executive function.
How Can Neurofeedback Training Help You?
First, we measure your brain activity to see why your memory isn`t working as it used to.
At Carlton NeuroFeedback Center, we use an advanced technology, called a qEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalogram) to measure and analyze the electrical flow in each lobe of the brain. For example, if your memory issues are the result of an imbalance in Theta waves, we`ll find it.
Then We “Retrain Your Brain” to Work More Efficiently
Once the measurements are done, we will utilize a custom-designed training protocol designed to improve your memory. The training itself is a pleasant experience. During the 30-minute session, you will be watching a video you find interesting or fun. We`ll lightly place sensors on your scalp to measure brain activity while you enjoy the video. If your attention wanders, the movie will dim, bringing your attention back to the videos. This “feedback” is painless, but over time, it teaches your brain to remain focused, allowing you to better remember what you`re seeing and hearing. This results in new neural connections that allow you to better remember anything you experience in your day-to-day life as well.
