One Patient`s Story
Although individual results may vary with neurofeedback, this is a note from one of our patients explaining how the training eliminated her symptoms and improved her life.
Highly recommend neurofeedback and Dr. Carlton. I’ve suffered since I was a child with debilitating depression, anxiety, and PTSD. I spent almost 20 years trying to get help through traditional talk therapy and pharmaceutical treatments, leaving me feeling hopeless. I had accepted that I would have to deal with this for the rest of my life – that I would have to battle it forever and try to protect my loved ones from it until Dr. Carlton introduced me to neurofeedback. In a few months of this non-invasive treatment, I feel like a new person! It’s been six months since I first started neurofeedback, and I have not had a single bout of depression or an anxiety attack. I look at the world differently now. I am able to keep my emotions under control and handle stress better than ever before. Everyone around me has noticed a difference whether or not they knew about my struggles. Quite frankly, it’s the best thing I could have done for myself, and I am so excited. Thank you to Dr. Carlton and staff – Rae, Valerie, Diane, Lindsay – they are all wonderful, caring people who truly want to help people. They helped me, and I am eternally grateful. – Chanda C
What occurs in the brain that causes people to suffer from anxiety and panic attacks?
Research shows that anxiety disorders can be due to too many Beta brainwaves (High Frequency) on the right side of the brain. These types of brain waves occur naturally when a person is awake and concentrating. Too many Beta brainwaves, however, can lead to anxiety and worry. Panic attacks are extreme cases of this imbalance, and due to the very nature of the anxiety attack itself, are very difficult to control on your own.
Neurofeedback Training Can Help
At Carlton NeuroFeedback Center, we use an advanced technology called a qEEG (Quantitative Electroencephalogram) to measure and analyze the electrical flow in each lobe of the brain. If your anxiety and panic attacks are the result of too many Beta waves, we`ll find it.
Once the measurements are made, you will be provided with a personalized training protocol to correct the imbalance. The training sessions are pleasant and enjoyable. All you have to do is relax and watch a movie!
During the training session, we will have sensors measuring your brainwaves, and the equipment provides audio and visual feedback based on your results. The recurring feedback actually creates new, healthier neural pathways over time. Over time, your brain reaches harmony, and the anxiety and panic attack symptoms are no longer present.
